Winter Skin Care Routines for Philadelphia Residents

Skin Care Products in Philadelphia, PAWinter is coming and with it, comes tougher, dryer skin that needs more maintenance than ever. Some of our patients have been looking for simple modifications to their daily skin care routine that may prevent drying out and the need for more drastic skin care treatments, and we are always here to help. It is important to keep in mind, though, that every specific skin care regiment will vary based on your skin’s type and needs.

Acne Prevention

Most acne-preventing regiments focus around products that may dry out the skin and during the winter, this can make taking care of the skin even more difficult. One of our Obagi® skin care products that we often recommend to fight acne is the Tretinoin Acne cream which promotes peeling of affected areas and removing acne before it turns cystic. This a great product, but during the driest time of year, it should be paired with a moisturizer that is just as strong and safe for the skin. Depending on the severity of your acne and how dry your skin may get in response to the changing of the seasons, Dr. Ginsburg can recommend something that will pair with your skin type perfectly.

Gentle Cleansers

One of the major issues many people have around the time is the realization that their daily cleanser is just too strong for the colder months of the year. A strong cleanser can only aid in drying out your skin, so try sticking to gentle cleansers that will wash away the dirt and grime accumulated during the day and night, but not the important and natural oils your skin needs to remain young and healthy.

Moisturize

This is the most important thing to do during the winter months and having a strong moisturizer is imperative now more than ever. Our ELASTIderm® Eye cream is a great way to revitalize the skin around the eyes and keep it from drying and forming wrinkles. This may be recommended to you as well as another type of strong moisturizer to ensure your skin stays as healthy as possible.

Sunscreen

This is something many people may not realize, but sunscreen is an important part of your daily skincare routine. Damaging UV rays from the sun can cause early signs of aging and worsen the amount of dehydration your skin will go through during the winter months. UV rays can become even more dangerous to the skin even when it’s cold due to their reflection off snow-covered ground. This could make sunscreen more important to you now than during the Summer. Fortunately, our Obagi® Broad Spectrum Sunshield SPF 50 works on all skin types and helps keep your skin feeling great.
