Anterior Cervicoplasty in Philadelphia, PA

Located in Glen Mills, Media and Chester, Providence Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery offers anterior cervicoplasty procedures to the residents of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas desiring facial plastic surgery.

What is an Anterior Cervicoplasty?

An anterior cervicoplasty, also known as a front neck lift or anterior neck lift, is a less-invasive alternative to traditional facelift and neck lift procedures. It is intended to remove volume in the chin, jawline and upper neck region by eliminating excess skin tissue. It is important to note that this differs from neck lift and facelift techniques because it does not address the rest of the neck or lower face. Therefore, this can be a good alternative for patients who have cosmetic concerns localized to the chin and jawline and would like to avoid more extensive surgical procedures.

Is a Front Neck Lift Right for Me?

The front neck lift procedure may be a good fit for you if you are experiencing the following concerns:

  • Excess fat under the chin (a double chin)
  • Have loose neck muscles (platysma bands)
  • Lack of chin and jawline definition

How Do I Choose Between an Anterior Neck Lift and a Traditional Neck Lift?

The choice between an anterior or front neck lift and a traditional neck lift will depend on your cosmetic concerns and treatment goals. Ultimately, an anterior neck lift is a targeted, less-invasive approach for chin and neck rejuvenation. This means it will not provide comprehensive rejuvenation like a facelift or a neck lift. However, this means it could be better option for you than other treatments if you are interested in:

  • Enhancing the contours of the chin and jawline
  • Tightening the upper neck muscles
  • Reducing downtime compared to a neck lift or facelift
  • Limited scarring compared to a neck lift or facelift

It should be noted that an anterior neck lift:

  • Does not tighten the skin
  • Does not improve the jowls or cheeks

For these reasons, an anterior neck lift is usually preferred by male patients with folds or limited amounts of fat under the chin, who still have good skin elasticity. Patients seeking more comprehensive rejuvenation may want to consider a neck lift or a facelift.

The best way to find out if an anterior cervicoplasty is suitable for you is to call for a personalized complimentary consultation, during which our facial plastic surgeon can answer all of your questions. At your initial complimentary consultation, we can also discuss the differences between an anterior neck lift and other treatment options to help you determine which is right for you.

What Can I Expect at My Complimentary Anterior Neck Lift Consultation?

No two necks age in the same way. As a result, no two anterior neck lifts will be identical. During your complimentary front neck lift consultation, Dr. Ginsburg will examine your neck and listen to your specific concerns. With your goals in mind, Dr. Ginsburg will then create a plan to sculpt the upper neck, using his many years of experience to produce a treatment plan that will produce the best possible results. Ultimately, when you leave your consultation, you will be equipped with realistic expectations for your front neck lift results, and a treatment plan that you can set into motion whenever you are ready.

How is an Anterior Neck Lift Performed?

An anterior neck lift is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. To begin treatment, Dr. Ginsburg will make incisions under the chin. Scars in this area heal well and are inconspicuous after a few months. Once Dr. Ginsburg has gained access to the neck tissues, he will then eliminate excess skin and fat to create a firmer, more defined neck and jawline. Dr. Ginsburg may also use liposuction to remove excess fat deposits in the neck area. After the necessary adjustments have been made, Dr. Ginsburg will carefully close the incisions.

How Much Does an Anterior Neck Lift Cost?

The cost of an anterior cervicoplasty can vary depending on your treatment goals and the surgical techniques involved, as well as whether you choose to combine your procedure with any other treatments. At Providence Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, we price each procedure individually. This allows us to more accurately represent the costs based on your body’s unique needs. We are happy to discuss your costs and financing options at your initial complimentary consultation. You may also view our financing page for further details.

What Can I Expect from My Front Neck Lift Recovery?

Recovery after a front neck lift typically involves some bruising, swelling, and discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication and/or antibiotics prescribed by Dr. Ginsburg. It’s also important to keep the head elevated and avoid any strenuous activities or movements that may strain the neck muscles for the first few weeks after the surgery. It’s common for patients to experience some numbness or tingling in the neck area for several weeks after the procedure.

Most patients are able to return to work and resume normal activities approximately 10 days after the procedure, which is less than the downtime required of a facelift or neck lift. However, it may take several weeks for the swelling to completely subside and for the full results of the procedure to be visible.
