Neck Lift in Philadelphia, PA

Located in Glen Mills, Media and Chester, Providence Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery offers neck lift surgery to the residents of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas desiring facial plastic surgery.

One of the primary hallmarks of aging is loose and sagging skin on the neck. By eliminating the excess skin around your neck with a neck lift, you can actually look forward to seeing yourself in the mirror every day and feel comfortable wearing clothes that show off your neckline.

Dr. Mark Ginsburg, a board-certified surgeon in both facial plastic surgery and head and neck surgery (otolaryngology) by the American Osteopathic Board of Otolaryngology, helps you achieve that smooth, striking neckline and youthful look.

Is a Neck Lift Right for Me?

Many individuals who are experiencing signs of aging may wonder if a neck lift is appropriate for their needs. The best way to find out if a neck lift will be suitable for you is to call for a personalized complimentary consultation, during which our facial plastic surgeon can answer all of your questions. At your initial complimentary consultation, we can also discuss the differences between a neck lift, facelift, and brow lift to help you determine which is right for you.

That said, generally speaking, patients who have concerns about mild excess fat deposits of the neck and mild laxity of the neck skin—as well as platysmal banding—may benefit from a neck lift. With the help of a neck lift, our patients can reduce or eliminate their “turkey neck,” smooth wrinkles, and achieve long-lasting results that will help them age with more ease.

What Can I Expect at My Complimentary Neck Lift Consultation?

No two necks age in the same way. As a result, no two neck lifts will be identical. During your complimentary neck lift consultation, Dr. Ginsburg will examine your neck and listen to your specific concerns with regards to the sagging or excess fat that has occurred.

With your goals in mind, Dr. Ginsburg will then create a plan to better sculpt and lift the neck, bringing his many years of experience to help you feel confident in your body once more. If appropriate, your neck lift may be combined with other procedures to give you the comprehensive look improvement you desire.

Ultimately, when you leave your consultation, you will be equipped with realistic expectations for your neck lift results, and a treatment plan that you can set into motion whenever you are ready.

How is a Neck Lift Performed?

A neck lift is an outpatient procedure that improves the appearance of your neck by removing excess neck fat and tightening the muscles and soft tissue of the neck. This is done via a combination of liposuction and suture tightening of the neck muscles.

During this procedure, a small incision is made under the chin. Placing the incision in this location allows any scarring to be practically invisible. Depending on your needs, the neck lift can be performed with sedation or general anesthesia.

How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?

The average cost of a neck lift is $3,000 – $15,000. At Providence Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, we price each procedure individually. This allows us to more accurately represent the costs based on your body’s unique needs. We are happy to discuss your costs and financing options at your initial complimentary consultation. You may also view our financing page for further details.

What Can I Expect from My Neck Lift Recovery?

It is typical for patients to take 7 days to 2 weeks to return to work following a neck lift procedure. However, as with any surgical procedure, the results will vary depending on the individual. Bruising and swelling are normal, and the neck will feel tight following surgery. While the tight feeling can last for several months, the bruising and swelling should subside after the first one to two weeks.

When Can I Return to My Normal Exercise Routine?

Many patients never realize how integral neck movement and strength is to their daily routine until having a neck lift. In order to ensure the best results, it is essential to take the time to rest and allow your surgery site to heal. We recommend waiting at least three weeks before incorporating any light exercise back into your day. You may begin to slowly increase your intensity around the 3 week mark.

Rest assured, Dr. Ginsburg will discuss the details of your recovery process with you well before your procedure. This will allow you to ask any questions in advance, so that you can be the most comfortable with what to expect. Additionally, your follow-up appointments will provide time for you to check in with your healing and receive any additional recommendations.

Although giving your body time to heal may feel frustrating, it is ultimately in your best interest to achieve the results you have been seeking. Our team is here to help you, at every step of the way.

Neck Lift FAQs

At what age should you get a neck lift?

There is no perfect age for a neck lift. Instead, patients who are experiencing wrinkles, sagging skin or banding in the neck can be fitting candidates for a neck lift regardless of age. A neck lift may become especially appropriate when non-surgical alternatives can no longer provide the rejuvenation benefits that a patient desires. This means that patients in their 40s, 50s or 60s can all be great candidates for a neck lift, depending on their cosmetic needs.

How painful is neck lift surgery?

The neck lift surgery is not painful at all, as general anesthesia enables patients to sleep comfortably throughout the duration of the procedure. However, patients can expect pain, swelling, bruising and related symptoms during their recovery process. These symptoms will be most severe during the first 2 weeks of recovery, during which time pain medications can help alleviate most of the discomfort. Dr. Ginsburg will let you know what kinds of pain medications and pain relief techniques to use to get through the healing process as comfortably as possible.

Does a neck lift get rid of jowls?

Yes, a neck lift enables patients to eliminate loose skin and fat around the jawline and neck. This means that the neck lift can be an effective procedure for getting rid of jowls and enhancing the neck line. However, patients who are struggling with significant drooping skin may want to consider combining their neck lift with a lower facelift for the best results.

How much younger does a neck lift make you look?

A neck lift generally takes about 5 to 7 years off of the appearance. However, it’s important to note that the neck lift only rejuvenates the neck and jawline. Patients who receive a neck lift but fail to correct signs of aging in the face may not experience the full anti-aging benefits of the surgery. For this reason, many patients choose to combine neck lift and facelift procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation benefits.

Are neck lifts worth it?

A neck lift is one of the most effective and long-lasting procedures for addressing signs of aging in the neck. While it does come with a significant recovery period, many patients find that overall, neck lifts are well worth it. Currently, there are no other treatments that can provide the substantial and long-lasting results that a neck lift can.
