2020 Surgery Tips for Glen Mills, PA

Facial Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia, PADeciding to have cosmetic or plastic surgery done is a major decision in anyone’s life. It only makes sense to take the necessary time and effort needed to ensure you have the best possible chance for the most optimal results.

Here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind while doing your due diligence towards a successful result with your plastic surgery choices.

Choosing a Surgeon

Once you’ve decided to have plastic surgery, the next most critical decision you’ll be required to make is choosing the surgeon to perform the procedure. It can’t be stressed enough how important it is to choose a board-certified surgeon.

At Providence Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Mark Ginsberg is triple board-certified in facial plastic surgery, general cosmetic surgery, and head and neck surgery (otolaryngology).

As someone preparing for plastic or cosmetic surgery, this is important information to have about any surgeon you’re considering, because plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, and otolaryngologists generally have different scopes of training and certifications.

Regardless of which type of procedure you’re contemplating, Dr. Ginsberg is highly qualified to perform it, with the experience, knowledge, and expertise to give you the results you’re wanting to achieve.

Facial Procedures Need a Facial Surgeon

If you’re considering a facial procedure, you need to make sure the surgeon you’re considering has had the extensive training needed for successful facial surgeries. Every licensed surgeon is legally able to perform cosmetic surgery. But this doesn’t mean you’d want a bariatric surgeon or a cardiac specialist to perform your facelift operation.

Every surgeon, who is board-certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery is also required to complete a one-year fellowship with training exclusively focused on cosmetic surgeries.

During this time, they’re required to perform a minimum of 300 cosmetic surgical procedures. This training comes AFTER completing a three to five-year residency program in a related field.

Dr. Ginsberg has undergone all the required training and was awarded the Patrick Murray Award, an award only given to the top three highest scorers in the entire nation on the annual residency exam.

Choose the Right Season for Your Plastic Surgery

Believe it or not, there truly is a ‘best time of year’ for many plastic surgeries and cosmetic treatments. Liposuction seems to be the exception and is generally thought of as a year-round treatment.

Other surgeries, such as tummy tucks, breast surgeries, and many facial surgeries are recommended for the fall or winter months. There are several reasons for that. For instance, a tummy tuck often requires you to wear compression garments for a designated period of time, which can become quite warm to wear during the warmer months of spring and summer.

For facial surgeries, having them done in the winter make it much easier to avoid the sun, which is often a requirement following facial surgery.

Another advantage to having plastic surgery in the winter is just the opportunity it gives you to be under wraps as you recover.
